Biological Treatment of Waste

Detail Engineering

Chemical Industry
Finland

The biological treatment plant is located in the Kilpilahti area, the largest refinery complex in Northern Europe. The project was reviewed by a third party (SWECO) in accordance with legal requirements mandating an independent engineering audit for this type of facility.

Scope of work

  • Civil Engineering
  • Full-cycle design engineering for cast in situ concrete structures.

Documentation produced

  • Formwork drawings
  • Reinforcement drawings
  • Post tension tendon layout
  • Reinforcement lists

Engineering support.

Active communication with the construction contractor, resolving issues arising during concrete placement and tank post tensioning. Participation in measuring stresses applied to prestressed tendons.

Key challenge.

Detailed engineering of cast in situ concrete reservoirs designed to meet the highest responsibility class. Due to Finland's stringent environmental standards, crack openings in concrete structures were not permitted to meet these requirements.
