The Keliber lithium refinery is an advanced processing facility located in the Kokkola Industrial Park, Finland. It processes ore from local mines into battery-grade lithium hydroxide (LiOH), making it Europe's first integrated lithium producer and a key supplier of raw materials for the electric vehicle battery industry.

The structural team was a permanent participant in layout meetings, actively contributing to the selection of practical and cost-efficient structural solutions that satisfied both the process engineering and cost estimation teams. Close cooperation with other disciplines helped optimize equipment arrangement, improve maintainability, and reduce structural complexity throughout the design process.

The main challenge was determining the optimal overall dimensions of the buildings to provide sufficient space for equipment installation and future maintenance while minimizing capital investment. Multiple layout iterations were performed to balance operational accessibility, structural efficiency, and project cost, ensuring an economical yet practical design solution.
